The Jamaica Library Service is pleased to host this International Conference as part of its activities being held in commemoration of the 60^th Anniversary of the organization. 

The Conference is targeted at library professionals from all levels of management, from school and public libraries across the world and will provide a forum for:

• Networking and sharing of resources
• The forging of partnerships
• Benchmarking for best practices
• Providing opportunities for human resource development
• Engaging policy-makers in discussion on the importance of libraries in National Development

The Conference venue will be the Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort in Ocho Rios

We encourage participation from various countries, not only through attendance at the Conference as a delegate, but by presenting a paper or workshop, or by taking advantage of the promotional opportunities associated with the event.

About Conference

The 60^th Anniversary International Conference will be held under the theme: ‘Public and School Libraries: your partners in National Development’. 

The theme will be explored in various fora – plenary sessions, panel discussions and workshops - through the presentation of papers and posters and interactive media.

Presentations will focus on four main aspects of development;

• Political
• Social
• Economic
• Technological

Each of these aspects contains a variety of sub-themes, around which session topics will be developed and presented.  See Call for Papers for more details on the sub-themes to be addressed, or in the event that you wish to make a presentation.

In addition to the information sessions, delegates and other participants will be able to enjoy a number of social events which have been planned.  These are the opening of the Exhibition, the Welcome Reception, a Banquet and a Cultural Extravaganza at which delegates will have the opportunity of sharing the culture of their country.  Tours will also be available to libraries and other attractions.
